Childhood
Barun Kanti Ghosh was born on June 9, 1988, in the peaceful village of Suktagram, located in Kalia Thana, Narail District, Bangladesh. His lineage is deeply intertwined with the history of his birthplace—his family has resided in Suktagram for over 400 years, with generation after generation being born, raised, and laid to rest in the same soil. This enduring connection to his ancestral land has shaped Barun's identity and values in profound ways.
He is the son of Baidyanath Ghosh, a respected retired English teacher at Dutta High School, where he taught students from Class 6 to Class 10. His mother, Janhabi Ghosh, is a homemaker, whose quiet strength and dedication played a crucial role in shaping Barun’s early life.
From a young age, Barun exhibited exceptional intelligence and a natural curiosity for learning. His formal education began at Kalukhali Primary School, where he studied from Kindergarten through Class 2. He later transferred to Suktagram Government Primary School, attending from Class 3 to Class 5. Despite the school being 2 kilometers from his home, Barun walked to and from school every day, a testament to his dedication and resilience even in childhood.
Barun’s early years were marked by academic promise, self-discipline, and a deep respect for his roots. Raised in a household that valued education and tradition, he grew up with a strong moral foundation and an enduring commitment to personal growth.
His story is not just that of an individual, but of a heritage carried forward—a narrative of legacy, learning, and quiet perseverance rooted in the heart of rural Bangladesh.
SSC ad HSC Life
Barun Kanti Ghosh began his secondary education at Dutta High School, located in his home village of Suktagram, under Kalia Thana, Narail. He studied there from Class 6 through the SSC examination, laying a strong academic foundation during these vital years.
From early on, Barun stood out for his curiosity and passion for deep learning. His inquisitive nature made him a favorite among teachers, who admired his eagerness to understand concepts beyond the surface. His dedication and brilliance earned him government scholarships at both the primary and secondary levels. Remarkably, he secured 2nd position in the Khulna Zone Scholarship Examination in Class 8—a significant achievement that reflected his academic excellence.
In 2004, Barun passed his SSC examination from the science group with an A+ GPA, during a time when only 8,597 students across the country received this distinction. After completing SSC, he moved to Dhaka to pursue his higher secondary education and appeared for the Notre Dame College admission process, which was based solely on a viva voce at the time.
Barun was selected for Group-4 at Notre Dame College, which consisted of 163 students, and was soon chosen as the Class Captain for his leadership qualities and discipline. His consistency in academics and deep focus on studies made him well-loved by his teachers. One of the most admirable aspects of Barun’s student life was his habit of mastering every lesson within the classroom itself—he always kept pace with the teacher and rarely needed any external coaching or private tuition throughout his HSC years.
During his time at Notre Dame, he was taught by several esteemed educators: Johorlal Sir – Mathematics, Gazi Azmal Sir – Biology, Sonjit Guho Sir – Chemistry
Barun remained highly disciplined and serious inside the classroom, consistently ranking within the top 50 students out of 1,169 in the college across all internal exams. However, he often shares a memorable story about his first quiz in Botany, where he failed—a rare and humbling experience that he calls the first and last academic setback in his life.
He earned the Perfect Attendance Award from Notre Dame College with a 99.6% attendance rate, a testament to his discipline and commitment. His hard work paid off in the HSC Board Exam of 2006, where he again achieved an A+ GPA. That year, only 9,450 students across the country earned GPA-5 across Science, Arts, and Commerce streams.
Reflecting on his college days, Barun often says that Notre Dame College was the most transformative period of his life—it was here that he learned to fight, learn independently, and persevere. He frequently tells his students, “Self-learning is the best learning.” Drawing from his own life experiences, he constantly encourages his students to be self-reliant, focused, and determined in their pursuit of excellence.
